From August 27th to September 4th the Daegu IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federation) World Championships were held. This event received a great deal of praise, but there were also several shortcomings.
Out of all the complaints lodged the most serious dealt with the poor management of the organizing committee. For instance, on the morning before the opening day, the organizing committee issued a statement that the MPC (Main Press Center) would be organized as usual. However, on that morning the press corps wasn’t given access due to issues with ID scanning. In addition, the stadium wasn’t properly supervised for children who rode kickboards and in-line skates on the track after the events ended. Furthermore, there were problems with traffic, food, and accommodation.
In the future, if international competitions or events are held again in our country the management of the organizing committee must be more detailed.
