Students and citizens continue to visit Love Road in Yeungnam University, where cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Love Road is a road between the Law School of Yeungnam University and Folk Village. The road was created in March 1970 when Professor Ahn Young-joo, who was working in the Department of Clothing and Fashion at Yeungnam University at the time, donated about 300 cherry trees. After that, azaleas, and forsythia trees were also planted, turning this road into a flower path from early spring to early summer.
It is a place where 40-year-old cherry trees are in full bloom on both sides of the dirt road, creating a cherry blossom tunnel every year. Especially at night, the Cheongsa-chorong lanterns are lit up for each cherry blossom tree, looking like a flower path blooming at night. Therefore, the official name is Yahwa-ro.
This road is trendy among lovers. Also, there are many interesting superstitions concerning this road. The most representative idea is that love always comes true when lovers walk together. Therefore, this road is more famous by the name of Love Road. However, walking on Love Road with a special someone does not mean that all love will come true. For example, “Walking along Love Road to the end breaks love” and “When lovers walk and look back, love breaks.” These beliefs are also possible for couples dreaming of eternal love. So, believe it or not, it is better to be careful.
