The Daegu Arts Center holds a concert every Wednesday at 7 p.m. from May to September at the eastern outdoor stage. The Wednesday Concert began in 2014 and is loved by many citizens. This regular event was designed to give emotional comfort to depressed citizens amid COVID-19 and provide performance opportunities and economic rewards for local artists.
To satisfy the diverse cultural needs of citizens, it consists of various genres of music such as Korean traditional music, classical music, vocal music, and dance. Performances by the four city arts groups (traditional music orchestra, city dance company, city boys and girls choir, metropolitan theatre company) are scheduled. Private art organizations in Daegu will also prepare spectacles.
The Daegu Arts Center organized the eastern outdoor stage where the performances take place to allow more citizens to enjoy culture and art. As it is located on the right side of the center’s main gate, citizens who visit Duryu Park and the Seongdang Pond can easily access it.
The performances in September are scheduled, including a collaboration of Daegu city dance company and Daegu metropolitan theatre company on September 1, Daegu traditional music orchestra on September 8, Vesnatrio on September 15, and Daegu city boys and girls choir on September 29.
However, due to the nature of outdoor performances, they can be canceled in case of rain. If you have time, why don’t you enjoy the September concerts?
