CVS, a convenience store and drug store in the United States, declared a cigarette sales interruption. CVS has a plan to stop cigarette sales this October in around seventy six hundred stores. This decision comes after when FDA declared that it will begin a campaign to stop smoking among juveniles. Larry Merlo, the sales CEO of CVS medicine and medical supplies field said “Cigarette sales interruption does right for client’s health and selling the cigarette is not in correspondence with our goal.” President Obama issued a special statement about cigarette sales interruption and praised CVS’s decision. The American Cancer Society also admired it saying that it was an important and bold move. In the United States, about four hundred and forty thousand people die from smoking every year. Therefore, this decision will contribute to promoting a healthy society in the US.
