Yeungnam University’s International Office operates various international exchange programs to enhance students’ global competence and support international students in adapting to campus life. These programs facilitate interaction between domestic and international students and provide local students with opportunities for overseas experiences.
Firstly, among the support programs for international students, the Buddy is particularly notable. The Buddy Program helps international students adapt to academic life and campus culture at Yeungnam University. Participants guide exchange students through university life and introduce them to Korean culture with traditional experiences.
Another key program is the University Student Ambassador (USA), where students serve as international ambassadors for the university. Participants assist with campus tours for foreign university delegations, support exchange students upon arrival, and play vital roles in organizing and interpreting international academic and exchange events.
Several overseas study programs are available for students seeking international experiences. The Outbound Pilot Program (OPP) offers a four-week intensive language training course at an affiliated university’s language education center. Meanwhile, the Yeungnam Columbus Program (YCP) allows prospective exchange students to visit their preferred partner universities. Participants can experience the host institution’s academic environment and regional culture before officially applying for the exchange program. To participate in the program, applicants are evaluated based on their language test scores, GPA, and the quality of their exploration plan. Since this program was newly introduced last year, its significance is even greater.
Furthermore, the university operates semester-based exchange and visiting student programs, allowing students to continue their studies at partner institutions. Individual consultations with the Study Abroad Foundation help students apply for these programs.
