The Chinese Government Is Muzzling Public Opinion

Specialists at the Central Internet Security and Informatization Leading Group which influences Chinese Internet policies by supervising cyber security and Internet public opinions started their activities in April. The Chinese government already reinforced Internet censorship by cracking down on rumors and arresting famous bloggers. The qualifying examination for ‘Internet managers’ which is used to recruit specialists contains sensitive words such as ‘culture revolution,’ ‘crowd incident’ and ‘power blogger.’ The ability to recognize and handle these words properly will be an important criteria for greater acceptance. For example, foreign media is concerned about the Chinese government’s activities regarding policies aimed at supervising people on-line in the name of information security.
