The Internet gets Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

The Nobel Committee announced the 2011 candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize on March 11th, 2011. The Internet was nominated. It may seem strange to nominate the Internet for the Nobel Peace Prize, but its impact is undeniable. Internet based SNS (Social Networking Service) like Twitter and Facebook has been instrumental in democratic demonstrations in the Middle East and Africa. In addition, the Internet has been used to expose many confidential documents about violence that have been covered up throughout recent history through Wiki-leaks. There is strong belief that the Internet has contributed greatly to world peace.
