2007-07-25     Observer
Prof. Choi In-ho's research team in the School of Biotechnology of Yeungnam University completed a hanwoo (a Korean beef cattle) dielectric map for the first time in the country.
The hanwoo dielectric map is a drawing of hanwoo's genes, and this map will be useful in producing an excellent quality of Korean cattle as well as diagnosing cattle disease like brucellosis. The results of research work will be published in domestic and foreign scientific journals. Furthermore, the research containing about 38,000 information on hanwoo's genes will be registered at the world gene bank.
In addition, it is known that BAC (Bacterial Artificial Chromosome) Library, a research center on hanwoo's genes, is to be established at the School Laboratory of Biotechnology in YU.
