As a reader of your last edition, it was really helpful to understand about our ‘History.’ I knew that Koreans are not interested in our history but I didn’t know by how much. I think the severity of the problem was emphasized by comparing it to the other countries. Unlike Korea, many other countries continually keep trying to protect their own history. However, as far as I am concerned, the announcement that history will be a designated required course by the Department of Education was quite desirable. I was so pleased to know our university is also trying to protect our history through different activities, some of which I would be willing to participate in. While writing these articles, the editors must have done a lot of research. It became an excellent opportunity for to think about what “I” can do for our history as a university student. I hope many YU students recognized this as well through reading your articles. I sincerely appreciate to YU Observer editors giving me this important awareness.
