As we know, drinking is part of Korean culture. People in Korea, no matter their age or gender, participate in social drinking. However, this culture has a negative impact on work places and at universities. There should be a policy to prohibit this kind of culture on university campuses.I frequently see that heavy drinking ruins some university students’ school lives, especially for freshmen. Also, it can cause negative long term effects to their lives. These long term effects include loss of brain cells, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, and strong headaches. Students who drink too much can have a hard time keeping a regular schedule. Such bad habits can negatively impact their grades. In addition, over consumption of alcohol can lead to more serious problems like unprotected sex, increased assaults, and damage to health. There are many ways that universities can prevent students from drinking alcohol. One way is to motivate students and prevent them from drinking. Universities should create small organizations that will work on this kind of problem, and try to persuade students to attend meetings and take lectures. Students should understand how drinking can affect their future life negatively and ruin their health. To sum up, I could say that drinking is one of the most serious problems in a youngster’s life. It can change an individual’s behavior dramatically, and it can also cause unexpected and permanent problems. So, let’s be aware of this!
