There seens to be no sign of a lease crisis’ aftereffect. After March 2009, the cost of rentals has risen for 24 months. There is a new trend called ‘house sharing’ which is becoming more common. This refers to the practice of people sharing living space by renting a medium to large size apartment and living together. In this case, each person takes an individual space while sharing facilities like the kitchen and living room. This requires people to become housemates with strangers. However, the popularity of this trend runs parallel to the fact that the number of non-homeowners who can’t even afford a one-room are increasing. Therefore, we need the government to come up with a realistic alternative to stabilize rental prices.
