Libya is one of the largest overseas construction clients of Korea. This exchange over the past 30 years has generated $3.1 billion in revenue as of 2009. In early June 2010, Mr. A, from the Korean Embassy in Libya, allegedly made contact with a native spy in order to acquire information about Libyan construction. In this process, Mr. A was instructed to dig up state secrets. He was caught, arrested, and subsequently deported. At the end of June, our government finally took action via a civil complaint regarding forbidden visas because they didn't know the seriousness of this fact. Libya dismissed the Korean government's late action, but they have since been resolving their differences. In this situation, some said that if our government acted quickly, this relationship wouldn't have been aggravated. Our government should cope with diplomatic relations rapidly, and they should regard this incident as an object lesson.
