Because of curiosity about what's happening on campus, I have read The Yeungnam Observer in the past especially focusing on the On Campus section. The On Campus article in the last issue was about YU's exchange program. I have been interested in this program ever since I entered this school. I realized that there are about 70 classes conducted in English. I didn't even know that YU had those kinds of classes. I guess not many students know that. However, the point is, 70 is not enough, not nearly enough. It's an unreasonably small number compared to the number of students enrolled. Actually, I entered this university as an English Specialized Student, but there was no system in place for us. It should be obvious that schools have to provide high quality education for their students whatever they do or wherever they come from. However, if the university cannot even give guarantees to their own students, then how can they possibly meet the high expectations of exchange students? There are so many universities in Korea and these students chose YU. Better foreign professors are necessary in order to create a higher standard and more classes need to be conducted in English than there are now. This is not only for the exchange students, but for all the students who attend YU.
