FOLLOWING THE PASS-age of the impeachment motion against President Roh Moo-hyun, we saw our people's strong will to express their feelings in the spontaneous candlelight vigil that took place protesting the National Assembly's decision. We witnessed both the indignation over the impeachment and the strong will and determination to continue the democratic process, in the faces of the people who participated in the vigil.  We saw the hopes to continue developing our society at that vigil. Everyone at the vigil hopes to make our country more democratic.

The history of Korea has developed in reverse. To trace a big historical event in our contemporary history, it was very difficult for anyone to stand up against an injustice or corruption in society before the development of democracy and human rights. After the March 15th rigged election, the April 19th revolution occurred and after the people expressed their outrage for the infringement upon their personal rights, the late President Park Chung-hee's repressive regime collapsed.

After the late general-turned-president Chun Doo-hwan's April 13th constitutional protection, the anti-government struggle in June, 1987 also occurred, which succeeded in pressuring the despotic government of Chun Doo-hwan to introduce a package of democratic measures.
To protest or support the Roh impeachment may be seen, in the future, as the 'best thing' that has happened in the continuing development of our country.
