On 26 April, YU was selected for the second-step of Brain Korea (BK) 21. Being involved in the second step means the university will produce high-quality human resources by supporting other universities focused on research. YU was selected in view of two large-scale project groups-the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the School of Display of Chemical Engineering and Technology, and five small-scale project groups from the Departments of Chemistry, Pharmacy and the Graduate School of Commerce. The project will last for seven years from 2006 and YU will be supported with 300 billion won per year. Throughout the project, YU is to upgrade its educational system from a solid base to a cutting edge research system.
