Have you ever dreamed of going on a trip to space? Anyone in their childhood would have dreamed of seeing all the stars and planets on a trip to space at least once, and that dream might come true today.
Since Yuri Gagarin succeeded in the first flight to space and Neil Armstrong took the first step on the moon, the universe has become less unknown. After all these achievements, people expected that the path to space would open sooner or later. However, it was far from the realm of tourism. The path to space had been limited to related research areas and occupations. It was considered that only astronauts could go beyond the earth. Nevertheless, the advent of the ‘New Space Era’ brought the difference.
The New Space Era is a paradigm of space development that has come back in the 21st century. Interestingly, the private sector is leading new space development, unlike previous efforts led by the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cold War. This change is the complete opposite from when governments suggested a business or direction, and companies followed.
Space X, Blue Origin, and Virgin Galactic are the prominent companies currently leading the space industry. Among these, Space X successfully achieved private space tourism on September 15, raising the possibility of individuals accessing space. Also, on October 5, the Russian Federal Space Agency (ROSKOSMOS) launched a spacecraft to film at the International Space Station (ISS) for the first time in human history. In this era, space is expanding beyond research to entertainment such as tourism and movies.
