On January 27th, 2011, there was a memorial concert for Jin-Won Lee, who died from a brain injury. The concerts were simultaneously held at 26 clubs around Hongik University, known as "Hongdae club." 103 bands, from office-working bands to famous musicians based at the Hongdae clubs volunteered to perform. They gathered in one place to honor the deceased, but the concert had a broader meaning in that it confirmed Korea’s indie culture to the world and got us thinking about indie music again.

Eating well can mean many things, but when it comes to health it means to eat a well-balanced nutritious and proportional amount of food regularly. However, in modern living avoiding junk and processed foods is becoming more difficult. Given the fast pace of modern life it is not easy to remove these foods from our lives. We need to find balance in our diet, so it is important to understand harmonies in connection with food as well as between foods.
The IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) WorldChampionships Daegu will be held from August 27th to September 4th, 2011.Daegu was picked as the site of these Championships after winning a competitionwith other countries that were interested in hosting them like Spain, Australia, and Russia. Weare going to take a closer look at the process of organizing these Championships and efforts manystudents and citizens are making to make them a success. We expect that there will possibly be manybenefits as well as concerns that come from the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011.
Korean traditional beverages are staples of our lives. There are several beverages that are well-known such as sikhye which is a cinnamon and rice drink, and sujeonggwa which is a cinnamon punch with dried persimmon. These are winter beverages but many people misconstrue them as being for summer. However, there are many beverages we don't know very well such as baesook which is boiled pear in honey, and wonsobyeong which is honey water with rice cakes. Although we drink popular beverages we don’t have much knowledge about them. Since Korean traditional products are being introduced to a global generation, we should know more about how they are developed and understand the preservation of traditional beverages in Korea.

A long time ago, Korean people wished for luck for their villages and believed in a god who protected them from evil with a village as a unit. This was called Dongje which is a Korean folk faith. For the most part this custom has disappeared from modern Korean society, and the remaining Dongjes have changed roles from just being memorial services to being representative of their regions.
